Amman, Feb 11 (Petra) – Minister of Public Works and Housing Maher Abul Samen on Wednesday inspected projects to address flood damage and protect water facilities along the Dead Sea Road and in the Southern Jordan Valley.

Abul Samen reviewed progress on bridges in the Dead Sea area, where completion has reached 28 percent. The works included implementing protective measures at the entrances and exits of the Zarqa Ma’in Bridge and reinforcing the Mujib Bridge and the Ghor Al-Mazra’a culvert, in addition to treating erosion at Wadi Shaqiq Bridge using gabion and concrete works and redirecting the valley’s course to ensure the sustainability of these structures against strong water flows.

He also followed up on progress in constructing the new box culvert in the Numeira area, which includes 10 openings measuring 3 by 3 meters, and rehabilitating the surrounding road. Completion at this site has reached 15 percent. He stressed that these works aim to enhance rainwater drainage efficiency and ensure traffic safety on the Wadi Araba Road during severe weather conditions.
